LED Television Reviews
When new technology comes out, it can sometimes be difficult to find unbiased information. LED television reviews fill a definite need here, and can be very useful in helping you to decide if one of these new sets is for you. After reading the reviews, you may decide you have to have one of these babies right now, or that your current tv will do fine for another few years.
LCD television technology itself is fairly new. Along with plasma, it allowed for flat screen tv’s that that could be hung on the wall and present a very clean moder appearance for people who like that look, or hidden away in a not-bulky cabinet, for those who don’t. LCD pictures have been improving, although most experts agreed that they haven’t been up to the standards of plasma.
One of the reasons for this is the conventional LCD tv backlighting. It’s always been provided by cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) , which weren’t able to offer the range of colors, and especially the deep true blacks, that plasma offered. CCFLs also can begin to dim after a few years, causing loss of picture quality. Even when new, fluorescent lighting does not offer the full range of color that is needed for the best quality television pictures.
Using LEDs as backlights goes a long way towards solving these problems. Technically, these LED tv’s should be called LED LCD tv’s, because they are still using LCD (Liquid Crystal Diode) screens – but they incorporate LED bulbs as the source of back light. You’ve probably seen these bulbs, as they have begun to appear quite frequently in flashlights, Christmas bulbs, and some home lighting applications. They use very little energy, have a very long life and produce a very bright white light, while having a projected life of up to twenty years. Because the LEDs are smaller, the LED tv’s can also be made much thinner that their regular LCD predecessors.
It’s a fact of life that a lot of people tend to just skim LED television reviews, only checking the star ratings of the various models. It’s a good idea to actually read the content of the ratings, and read a lot of them. This way, you can see if the reviewer loved (or hated) a model for some reason that’s particular to their own situation, but would not affect you at all. Also, reading a number of reviews in their entirety may allow you to see that some people review everything. Now, unless they’re millionaires with a lot of time on their hands, it’s not likely that they own the items in question. LED television reviews from people that are only writing their reviews based on what they’ve read elsewhere are useless. Also, some people are super critical, and will focus on the bad points while ignoring the good. Conversely, others always write reviews as soon as they unpack the item and are flush with the joy of their new posession. Both types of reviews are less than helpful. Also, make sure the reviewer is rating the product, and not the merchant they bought it from – unless you have no other option than to purchase it from that merchant.
Some people will say that even after reading numerous LED television reviews, you need to go to the store and view the tv in person. That does sound logical. But make up your own mind as to whether it’s necessary. The lighting in the store may not be comparable to that in your house, and some tv’s may not be accurately calibrated while others are, making comparisons irrelevant. Still, regardless of whether you check them out in person or not, perusing LED television reviews before buying is time well spent.
